What the fuck you never post shit!
Chill out, I'm about to.
So... like almost every day I surf the Imgur gallery of the most popular and "hot" images. It has become way more frequent for me to just close the tab and just do something else to distract me. Today I saw this image:
If you zoom in you can see what the whiteboard says:
"Hey Facebook! My sister and i REALLY want a cat. Our papa promises we can get one if we can get 1,000 likes. Please like this picture thank you!"
What parent in the right mind would seriously make the decision about getting a pet dependent on how many people click the Like-button on Facebook? Where has our society gone?
What the fuck is wrong with begging for likes on Facebook?!
It's simple: Everything. You don't see people on the street with a bunch of photos of themselves asking you to ask them for an autograph, do you? What these kids and more importantly their parent is doing is one of the things I hate the most. Do you really need the confirmation of other people to feel good? Do you need people to tell you you're awesome? Then DO something awesome. These kids haven't really done anything. They wrote some stuff on a whiteboard and put a picture of it in Facebook. What is even more alarming is that their parent initiated this. How, as a parent, can you teach your kids that you get what you want if you beg people for it? I can't seem to find the right words here, so let me try to elaborate a bit further. The situation is similar to a petition for free ice cream for one person. I mean by clicking the Like-button, you "sign" the petition for a cat for these kids. You probably click it because you want to do something "good" or because the kids are "cute". "Signing" this petition shows how much of a hypocrite you are. You think you are doing something good, but in the end all you did was satisfy yourself by tricking your mind into thinking you did something good. The parent in this case enforces this behavior on his kids and I doubt they will really change this behavior since they learned if from their father. If everyone would raise their kids like this, the world will soon be filled by people complaining about everything, trying to get as much attention as possible and being hypocrites about doing something good.
In the end this picture and everything it stands for made me rage once more in my life. I seriously hope people will start to see through this scheme and start thinking for themselves. In my opinion we have yet again reached a point where there are very few people thinking individually and the masses that act like a cattle of sheep.
